Memoires for my Grandson by John Evelyn

A limp vellum binding that uses the darker areas of the skin, formed by dark hair follicles, to suggest a figure. Quotes from the text are hand tooled in gold.

The structure of the end leaves incorporates a paste paper fly leaf, an alum tawed joint and a plain leaf of vellum. The alum tawed sewing supports are laced through the shoulder of the cover, the joint and fly leaf, then back through the joint and fly leaf, making a secure, non-adhesive, attachment for the cover.
